'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the thrilling dying seconds of Swansea's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles following the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a speculative shot from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess promptly hammered in the loose ball before charging toward the East Stand to celebrate, with the crowd swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This completed an unbelievable turnaround given Swansea had been behind 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. Amid the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter shouting out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory booked a fourth-round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's long-range effort from about way out going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right defensive wing after Orient changed formation. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who praised the way the underdogs approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they understand how to control and neutralize a game. You can feel you're all right and then without warning they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and concentration just to keep pace."

New Chapter

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at his former club and has swiftly achieved similar status in Wales. At the London club he reunited with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that maturation for his team and nation, excelling for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including home and away encounters against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his knack for a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

This represents a remarkable path for the kid from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who used to see his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's single match for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "That proved to be a long trip and it was cold out there," he recalls, chuckling. "The week before, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "It was quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I thought I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a small coach driven by club employees, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to interact with the lads but I'm hoping to be the next one out of the minibus and on the road. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on the Tube after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
